Our Prayer:

May this website be a clarion call to all Americans to learn to debate war in a new fashion. It is almost certain that tomorrow we will face an increasingly hostile world. Whether it be a Democratic war (think Afghanistan) or a Republican war (think Iraq) it is imperative for the conflicts of tomorrow that all liberals and conservatives show a united front and begin to debate war in a new way. This website is dedicated to that task.

(Suggestion - buy a poster for a liberal.  Join the debate.)

Our Vision:

Our hopes and aspiration for this website as we face an increasingly dangerous world, is for the citizens and politicians  of this great country to set aside their political and cultural differences and to stand united as Americans when our military is in harm's way.

(Suggestion - buy a poster for a conservative.  Join the debate.)

Mission Statement:

In the spirit of our father, who allowed dissent and protest in his household, we have started this project. Our goal is not to challenge anyone's patriotism, or to discuss whether a particular conflict was right or wrong.

Contrary to popular belief we are a very young country and our institutions are fragile. As we begin this political season and discuss foreign affairs and the military, our most trusted institution, common sense and common ground is what we need the most.

(Suggestion - buy a t-shirt for an American.  Join the debate.)

In the spirit of Colonel Fisher we have created Common Ground, a format for conservatives and liberals, republicans and democrats to discuss the responsibility each of us has as a Citizen Soldier and our collective responsibility to our voluntary servicemen and women.

A question posed by Colonel Fisher:

“As a citizen who has the right to protest and dissent, what responsibilities do you bear, if it prolongs America's conflicts or it puts our servicemen and women in harms way?”

Welcome to Common Ground

It is our solemn pledge to give an equitable portion of the profits of the sale of our quality silk screened t-shirts and posters to our servicemen and women and their families and for the maintaining of this website dedicated to the education and unification of the American public about our most trusted institution, the United States military and their families.

About the photo on the back of the t-shirt and the poster:

This is a photo of Colonel T.H. Fisher taken June 1944. The photo went around the world and the caption read: “Saipan D-3 Drake University football star on Saipan. Captain T.H. Fisher, age 26 takes a drink of water during lull in fighting. Captain Fisher, Fox Company, Second Battalion, Sixth Marines holds critical left flank during 3 days of intense fighting.”

The quote from John Stuart Mill on the back of the t-shirt and the poster:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

John Stuart Mill
English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)
